Faculty members from the Department of Materials Engineering publish a scientific paper in the IOP in the field of nanotechnology and green industry
Prof. Dr. Mayada Shanan Abd, Assist. Prof. Dr. Basma Hashim Muhammad, and Engineer Ali Hussein Abdul Jabbar, faculty members in the Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology, published a scientific paper titled(
Microwave-assisted green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using turnip root (Brassica rapasub sp. Rapa) extract and their antibacterial efficacy)
The research was published in the journal Physica Scripta by IOP Publishing, which is included in the Scopus and Clarivate indexes within the first quarter.
This study explored the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from turnip root extract, comparing microwave and conventional heating. Characterization confirmed crystalline, stable AgNPs with significant antibacterial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The research highlights the potential of biosynthesized AgNPs for medical applications.
