General Materials Engineering
About the Branch: |
The Branch of General Material Engineering was established in 1999-2000. The engineer graduating from this branch is a comprehensive engineer, ready to work and render engineering services in industrial, Selecting and design the appropriate engineering material for special application by using best manufacturing technology to obtain a product with the best performance and lowest cost. Vision, Mission, and Objectives Vision: The General Materials Engineering Branch should be distinguished and creative in the field of specialization. As well as contribute to understanding the nature of the work of discovery, analysis and characterization in this area. And follow up the rapid developments in the field of engineering materials and applications in various fields in accordance with the curriculum of the branch and to graduate cadres qualified and efficient in the field of engineering materials. Mission: The mission of the branch is to prepare specialized engineering personnel in the general materials engineering branch (metals, polymers, ceramics and composite materials) to suit the requirements of the field of work in all scientific and educational aspects, and at the levels of undergraduate (B.Sc.) and graduate studies (M.Sc. and Ph.D.). Ceramics and Building Materials Engineering
About the Branch: The Materials Engineering Department at the University of Technology Baghdad offers engineering programs leading to acquire the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Master of Science (M.Sc.), and doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Materials Engineering. The B.Sc. degree includes three different specialties; the “General Materials Engineering”, “Ceramics and Building Materials Engineering “, and the “Polymers Engineering Materials “. These branches were established at 2013. The M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees cover a wide range of research areas related to the major field of Materials engineering. Our fundamental goal is to understand the relation between the structure and chemistry of materials and their deep contact on the final properties of the new product for several applications. The branch was established in 2010/2011. Vision, Mission and Objectives Vision: As we move towards our goal of being a world-class department, we will support research on a global scale. The MaE will inspire its scientific employees to be the best they can be. Thus, we seek to compete with other engineering departments dealing with engineering materials to be the most active. Our vision is to bring our students into the 21st century through innovation and modern technology. Learning will be enhanced with computer software and new educational means that will allow students to proceed at their own rate according to their ability. This can only be achieved through hard work in the field of attention to the quality and accuracy of the information provided as well as a hard work on having a vision and strategy for laboratory work. Mission: The department of Materials engineering provides access to higher education opportunities that enable students to develop knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their professional goals, improve the productivity of their organizations and provide leadership and service to their communities. Hence, the MaE can be considered as a distinctive and distinguished learning environment for undergraduates and graduate students in many scholarly and professional fields. It seeks to link its research and teaching to the vast resources of a great metropolis as well as to create academic relationships with many countries and regions. We also seek to:
Objectives: The program educational objectives of the Ceramics and Building Materials Engineering branch are: Learn how to use the empirical and analytical, statistical and mathematical tools for the exercise of the profession of engineering in the field of ceramics and building materials engineering. Prepare cadres capable to work in multidisciplinary teams able to how to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems with understanding of professional and ethical responsibility. Engage in activities that promote lifelong learning and the life of graduate professional and provide the flexibility to respond to the changing needs professional and community. |

Polymeric & Petrochemical Materials Engineering
About the Branch:
The program of Polymeric and Petrochemical Materials Engineering is dedicated to providing the country with specialists for a broad base of polymer-related materials through the development and application of our core competencies, which include education, research, analysis, design, synthesis and performance testing. The objective of both our academic and research functions is the practical application of scientific and engineering principles to generate new material and processing concepts and enhance technical problem solving capabilities related to the production and use of polymer.
The branch was established in 2010/2011.
Vision, Mission & Objectives
Vision:
The polymeric and petrochemical branch aims to promote the industrial and productive reality of the country, as it is rich in oil which considered as the main source of the polymeric and petrochemical industries. The branch also looks forward to use other clean natural sources in the production of natural and synthetic polymers via polymerization processes, as well as recycling of plastic waste which poses a great danger to the environment worldwide.
Mission:
Establishing of an integrated educational and academic program, that supports the country’s needs in both governmental and private sectors for engineers specialized in the production and manufacture of polymeric and petrochemical substances. The educational and academic program of the branch also supports the practical aspects in terms of design and management of production plants and factories as well as identification and conducting various tests and surface treatments to improve the performance of the polymeric materials.
Objectives:
The academic program is focused in the following objectives:
1- to solve problems from the practical side by applying engineering and scientific principles .
2- to conduct various experiments in the production, manufacture, characterizing and inspection of polymeric substances .
3- to utilize various software and statistical analysis techniques to carry out engineering designs according to work requirements .
4- to deal with various aspects of work in the ethics of engineering profession.
5- to work in teams and promote confidence among the team members .
Biomaterials and Prosthesis Engineering Branch
About the Branch:
The branch of biomaterials engineering and artificial compensation was established in the Department of Materials Engineering in 2020, the duration of the study is four years, including practical training for students in hospitals, health clinics, medical rehabilitation centers and physiotherapy, the graduate of this branch is able to contribute to the design, manufacture and development of materials and medical supplies and compensatory human organs and acquire the basic skills that qualify him to provide the basic needs and requirements of government health institutions and cover them.
The branch was established in 2020/2021.
Vision, Mission and Objectives
Vision:
The presidency of the Branch of Biomaterials Engineering and Artificial Compensation aims to be one of the most important and prominent engineering disciplines in Iraqi and international universities in the next few years. The branch’s presidency also looks forward to being a leader and distinguished at the local and international level in the curriculum and scientific sobriety by keeping pace with the development of scientific research and raising the level of participation in bioengineering research and artificial compensation during international conferences and magazines with sober universities and other academic research centers in advanced countries in this field as well as opening up prospects Medical and health cooperation with government health institutions and academic exchange programs through innovations and inventions in various medical fields.
