The Department of Materials Engineering awards a PhD in Materials Engineering in the field of Biomedical Implant Applications.

The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a PhD to researcher Marwa Hadi Jabr on Tuesday, 15/4/ 2025, in the Graduate Studies Hall in Building C, for her thesis entitled:

“Evaluation of Liquid Phase Sintering for the Production of Bone Plate Fixation from Titanium Powder”

Study aimed to develop bio-titanium composites for use in bone implants and to enhance their properties through the addition of aluminum and hydroxyapatite. The effect of various sintering parameters on the performance was investigated using powder metallurgy technology. The results demonstrated high biocompatibility, extremely low corrosion rates, elevated cell viability values, and long-term chemical stability.

The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Abbas Khammas Hussein as Chairman and the membership of Prof. Dr. Rana Mahdi Saleh, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ameed Zain Al-Abidin, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muzaffar Hashem, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hind Basil Ali. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Nevin Gamal Abdel Qader/Department of Materials Engineering, Assist. Prof. Dr. Laith Waddah Ismail. The thesis was scientifically evaluated by Prof. Dr. Enas Mohi Hadi, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Naji Hassan, and linguistically by Dr. Aws Muayad Mahdi.
