The Department of Materials Engineering offers a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering in the field of Renewable Energy
The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a master’s degree to researcher Nahzat Osama Kamel on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in the Graduate Studies Hall in building C for her thesis entitled (Improvement PV Cell Efficiency of Thin Film Coating Nano-technology)
This study aimed to fabricate a thin nanostructured film using copper sulfide (CuS) and silver-doped copper sulfide (Ag-doped CuS) on silicon wafers via pulsed laser deposition (PLD). Optical and electrical characterizations were conducted, revealing an increase in light absorption due to plasmonic effects, which reduced transmittance and reflectance. The results showed an improvement in cell efficiency after annealing, highlighting the significant role of doping and annealing in enhancing electrical performance.
The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Aseel Basem Abdul Hussein as Chairman and the membership of each of Assist. Prof. Dr. Laith Waddah Ismail, Assist. Prof. Dr. Muhannad Najah Jawad. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Kadhim Matar shbib, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayad Kazim Hassan. The thesis was also scientifically evaluated by Prof. Dr. Abdul Hadi Kazim Jadran, Assist. Prof. Dr. Muhannad Hamed Musa, and linguistically by Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Khadir Abbas.
